International Day Games:
Tuesday, 13th of April 2010 was a memorable and special day for Maccabi Singapore sports club.
Our club was invited to take part in the sportive program of International Friendship Day held in Clementi Town Secondary School. Friendly basketball matches were arranged for two of our teams, the U14 boys and U16 girls’ squads.
International Friendship Day is a day dedicated to the understanding of Singapore's relations with neighboring countries and beyond. It aims to nurture in our future generation the spirit of friendship and collaboration among people from different countries and cultures.
Clementi Town Secondary School will be the one to host the Israeli Youth Olympic Delegation, as such the school wanted to enhance their kid’s insight and interaction with Jewish- Israeli youth and culture. Our club, being a Jewish sport organization in Singapore was therefore invited to represent the Jewish- Israeli community at this day.
A head of the games the teams were invited for a special reception at the Israeli ambassador’s quarters in the embassy, in order to emphasize the importance of this event to our community as well as the significance of the kids role as “little ambassadors “ for our country and community.
At the end of the reception The Israeli ambassador, her Excellency Mrs. Amira Arnon presented the team players with the club’s impressive trophy, made by the club to express our appreciation to all the teams’ players’ efforts in participating in the event.
Following the reception, the U14-16 Boys and girls participated in the friendly matches at the Clementi Town Secondary School. The excellent and exiting atmosphere had driven our teams to present a tough fight to the hosting school’s best teams.
Our kids deserve a strong commend for their outstanding performance that all of our community can be proud of.
